I am excited to share a wonderful collaborative opportunity that came about via the Eastfield College Gateway program and the Continuing Education department. For one week students chose a career field of interest to explore. The auto body class was a popular selection and many thanks to Ramiro Gutierrez and Carlos Ojeda. Also, a big thank you to the Continuing Education department in helping bring this avenue of the Gateway to College program to life.

We Want to Be Ready....Are You!
In addition to my position as the Director of the Eastfield College Gateway to College program I work as a graduate adjunct professor. One of the proudest moments for me as a professor came when 4 women in my Garland cohort produced a presentation summarizing my emphasis to challenge their own learning and stretch beyond their comfort with technology and in educating our youth to be College ready. Gateway to College is for students 16-24 years old, lacking in senior status...
Ready and willing to be responsible for their education... Students who express motivation and the desire to achieve their educational goals...
Students must be English proficient and possess academic skills that will enable them to transition to college classes after the prep-foundation/foundation Gateway experience...
Students will remain in the program until they complete their high school diploma or until age 24, whichever comes first...
Students must be willing to make a commitment of 2 or more years, to work hard to complete their high school diploma, and progress towards a college degree or certificate...
Gateway to College is a scholarship program that pays for college tuition and books...
